Soap Making Classes in Perth, no fees
Event Information
About this Event
Would you like to learn how to design and make your own fabulous soap? In these small, relaxed and friendly groups, everything is provided, and I will guide through the process of combining lye and oils safely to make the soap . Step by step I'll show you how to create your own soaps from scratch using ingredients and equipment you may already have at home.
This is a "no frills" course. No cheese and wine, flowers or expensive chocolates. Instead, you will find perked coffee , brewed tea kept warm under a tea cosy , and friendly sharing of ancient soapmaking skills. Traditionally, soapmaking was carried out by the women of the village in small groups, sharing knowledge and gossip. And it took all day! We will be making our soap with mod cons, but in the spirit of sharing rather than teaching.
Your beautiful soap will be made with essential oils, nourishing to your skin as well as allowing you to be artistic and creative. You will discover which simple supermarket items can be used to make soaps in small quantities, where to find oils, colours and butters at wholesale prices, and I'll show you some of the skills and tricks I have learnt in 30 years of soapmaking. I will guide you through the whole process so that you take away a mould full of your own soaps.
Making homemade soap is very rewarding and a great gift for family and friends. Enjoy the satisfaction of making natural handmade bar soaps formulated to your own needs, or the needs of someone else.
We will be using natural, plant based sustainable ingredients. If there is any ingredient you would like to use in your soap please let me know when you make the booking so I can be sure it is in stock. Otherwise we use only pure natural skin nourishing ingredients from reliable and trustworthy sources.
You will have access to botanicals, essential oils, oatmeal and various additives that are used in soap making. Some botanicals can be found in your own garden! Just make sure they are dried out first, before using them in soap.
Using a basic cold process soap recipe you will learn how to choose your oils, how to add lye to oils, the importance of tempering the batter, and how and when to add essential oils and colours or anything else that is available in the workshop.
No artificial additives are used, and the colours are natural pigments and clay.
These classes are ideal for developing your abilities, creativity and confidence, whether your plan is just to make the occasional batch of beautiful handmade soaps or whether you want to develop your skills and confidence to a commercial level.
So, choose a date that suits you, or get a group of at least 2 friends together and contact me to arrange an extra class outside the scheduled ones.
If you have ever wanted to make luxurious handmade traditional soaps, this workshop is for you !
These soaps are made for daily use, not just for show.
To comply with hygiene requirements, social distancing is respected and cleaning products (soap of course!) will be available as well as sanitiser.
