About this event

So You Want to Turn a Life Story into Performance

with KSP Established Writer-in-Residence Suzanne Ingelbrecht

Costs:  $35 members, $50 non-members. Online booking fees also apply. To avoid paying fees, please phone KSP directly to book and pay by debit/ credit card: 9294 1872.

This workshop is brought to you by the KSP Writers' Centre with support from the Shire of Mundaring. Tea and coffee provided.

How can a writer begin to think about turning a personal story into performance? How do we even know whether we have anything interesting to tell an audience about ourselves? This workshop will help beginner and emerging writers, including memoir writers, tease out the building blocks of creating short, compelling personal stories for live performance. Although the process will be small – a 10-minute scene, a moment in a life, a snapshot of personal experience – our ambition will be writ large because part of the workshop will include tips on how to prepare to deliver that personal story before a live audience (the workshop participants). It will therefore include ‘doing it’ as well as ‘writing it’ for a moment of self-empowerment as well as creative fun.

Target audience for workshop: No age barrier; beginning, emerging prose and performance writers; and memoirists/creative fiction writers; extroverts and extrovert wannabes!
