Writing workshop with Annabel Smith, KSP Writer-in-Residence Alumni

Saturday 10 February 2018, 1.00-4.00pm

$35 KSP and WAWU members, $50 others

This workshop as part of our 'So You Want To...' series is brought to you by the KSP Writers' Centre with support from the Shire of Mundaring as part of the 2018 National Year of Lifelong Learning. Tea and coffee provided.


So You Want To ... Be a Writer

This interactive workshop will provide an array of tips & tricks to get you started and keep you writing, as well as editing your own work, covering the following areas:
• making time for writing
• getting started
• to plan or not to plan
• overcoming self-doubt
• self-editing & feedback
• developing your skills
• seeking publication
• support networks

TARGET AUDIENCE: Beginners /early career /returning writers.


About the Facilitator

Annabel Smith is the author of Whiskey & Charlie (published in Australia as Whisky Charlie Foxtrot), digital interactive novel/app The Ark, and A New Map of the Universe, which was shortlisted for the West Australian Premier’s Book Awards.

Annabel's short fiction and non-fiction has been published in iconic journals Southerly and Westerly, and she has been privileged to be selected as a writer-in-residence at Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers Centre and the Fellowship of Australian Writers. She has also been an invited guest, as panellist and chair, at Melbourne Writers Festival, Perth Writers Festival and regional festivals in Albany and Margaret River.

Annabel holds a PhD in Writing from Edith Cowan University, is an Australia Council Creative Australia Fellow, and a member of the editorial board of Margaret River Press. http://annabelsmith.com/


FAQs

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is a bus stop directly outside the Centre on Old York Road. The Centre is located on a residential street and looks like any other house: look for the 'Katharine’s Place' wooden plaque sign and bright green letterbox out front. Parking is available in the brick driveway and in front of the hedge, also on the upper gravel level (to the right of the house) and along the street. Overflow parking can be found down the gravel driveway to the immediate left of the house (look for the No Thoroughfare sign); please drive down here slowly.

What should I bring to the event?
Bring an exercise book and pen or pencil, and water bottle if desired. Laptops/tablets also welcome.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Sorry, tickets cannot be transferred.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
