Join professional snorkel leaders and marine biologists for a guided snorkel at Port Noarlunga reef. The reef has been an aquatic reserve since 1971 and is home to an amazing variety of colourful fish and plant life.
Suitable for children 5 years and above whom are good swimmers. At least one parent to accompany and supervise maximum of two children. EMS has limited wetsuits and floatation devices for under 7 years. 5-7 year olds can participate if parents supply childs own wetsuit and floatation device & supervision is one-on-one by parent. Snorkel tours are taken at (or close to) low tide when there is little water movement and best visibility. Depth ranges from 2-6m. Trained snorkel guides lead the tours and are often accompanied by student or experienced local marine biologists.
Please arrive at least 30 minutes before snorkel time to fill out out registration form and be fitted with snorkel gear.

Where do I meet to take part in tour?
EMS Snorkel leaders will have a registration table set up at start of jetty near SNUBA & cafe - look for the EMS banner.
Is there an age limit to enter the event?
The event is open to children 5 years and above.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Bring your own wetsuit and snorkeling gear (if you dont have your own snorkeling equipment we can provide limited number free of charge).
The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
That is fine.
Do you need to have snorkeling experience?
You dont need snorkeling experience but you do need to be able to swim 100m. Larger groups will be broken down to smaller groups with similair experienced snorkellers in each group - this allows more assistance to those who require it. Less experienced groups will snorkel shallow water (2-3m) and more experienced deeper water on reef (5-6m).

Experiencing Marine Sanctuaries Inc.
Safe and supervised 'in water' experiences of our unique marine life and habitat.
Experiencing Marine Sanctuaries (EMS) is an incorporated, not-for-profit community organisation.
EMS snorkel events are supported by Natural Resources, Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges and Eyre Peninsula.
The program is based on the highly successful New Zealand program ‘Experiencing Marine Reserves’.
Our EMS snorkel leaders are qualified snorkelling instructors and offer guidance, direction and coordination of our snorkel experiences.
EMS provides mask (goggles), snorkel, fins (flippers) and wetsuits (these are limited so please bring your own if you can).
The EMS program is designed for adults and children (8 years and above), parents & grandparents that are interested in experiencing and learning about SA’s unique marine life and habitats. Participants under 15 years need to be accompanied in water by at least one parent (2:1 ratio - two children: 1 parent). Children 5-7 years can join in if accompanied by a parent one-on-one with parent supplied buoyancy jacket and wetsuit).
Snorkel tours typically last for around 30 minutes. Registration, gear allocation and snorkel safety briefing can take up to 30 minues before snorkel tour.
