Event description

Description

Join us for the most incisive round up of the moments that made 2019.

Two controversial elections in the first six months of 2019, and a polling debate with lasting implications. The Christchurch massacre stunned New Zealand, and the world. Between trade wars, our Crown investigation and the Hong Kong protests, China has been a constant presence in the news at home. Brexit remains a shambles and, well, Trump is Trump. Morrison had a “miracle” win, but George Pell lost his appeal. The AFP raided journalists and the banking royal commission final report dropped. In NSW, Gladys won, abortion was finally decriminalised, and lock out laws are out in the cold – so, too, the residents of badly constructed tower blocks. In the world of sport, Australia retained the Ashes, Ash Barty hit number one and Israel Folau hit the headlines.

And that’s just the beginning. As the year comes to a close, join our lineup of award-winning journalists as they reflect on the biggest stories of 2019 and look ahead to 2020. The Herald’s Editor, Lisa Davies, will be joined by Tory Maguire, National Editor, and a stellar lineup, including:

Peter Hartcher, Political and International Editor
Kate McClymont, Investigative Journalist
Ross Gittins, Economics Editor
Alexandra Smith, State Political Editor
David Crowe, Chief Political Correspondent
Peter FitzSimons, Columnist
Georgina Robinson, Chief Rugby Reporter
