Event description

Description

We launched our SME breakfasts a year ago with a fantastic discussion lead by Matthew Hingerty from Barton Deakin, Election, Election, Election.

A year on, the anti-gobalisation rhetoric continues. The US election result cast doubt on global trade, with trade in services caught up in domestic protectionism. US jobs have been a key focus for the Trump administration.

And we’ve some reactions from the Australian government with the amendments to 457 visas and the establishment of the home affairs department. What does this mean for Australia’s services industry? What is the political appetite for globalisation and how can we ensure our voice is heard?

Come along and hear from our guest mentor, Kristy McSweeney, Principal or The PR Counsel and Media Advisor to the former trade minister, Andrew Robb.

Kristy McSweeney was the former trade minister, Andrew Robb’s Media Advisor with responsibility for positioning the Government’s Free Trade Agreement with the media, business and community.

She now runs her own PR firm, The PR Counsel. The PR Counsel offers clients integrated communications, engagement and government facilitation strategies.

They have a specialist expertise in creating international trade and communications narratives for their clients that are seeking to expand into foreign markets and participate in trade missions and have a broad client-base in the SME market, as well as large corporates.

Kristy is a regular Sky News political commentator appearing across the network in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth giving insight into major political decisions and government strategy and appearing as part of the campaign coverage team for state and federal elections.
