Event description

Description

It has been said that the best camera is the one you have with you. Join Max Schleser and Adrian Jeffs to zoom in on the growing community of smartphone filmmaking. Learn how to shoot your film, edit on the fly, and submit to well-known festivals. This workshop will give you a brief overview of digital storytelling, producing short films, documentaries and video content with your smartphone.

All participants will receive: A submission waiver for the MINA submission fee and deadline extension, a discount for SF3 submission, a discount code for Beastgrip and a redeem code for FiLMiC Pro app [FiLMiC Pro for first 25 tickets only ;-].

Adrian and Max will describe the basics of storytelling via Adobe Spark Video, introduce you to smartphone cinematography via iOS camera app and FiLMiC Pro as well as editing on your smartphone with Adobe Clip and Luma Fusion. Max and Adrian will showcase some smartphone filmmaking camera gear that they used in their documentary film productions, including Rode i-XLR or iRig Recorder to connect XLR mics for broadcasting quality audio and accessories like Beastgrip or Fotosafari to mount your smartphone on tripods or for steady handheld productions. We will also show how to use small lights like TorchLED effectively.

Max will talk about creative processes and narrative strategies specific to experimental and documentary filmmaking. During the last 8 years he curated the International Mobile Innovation Screening, which captures and celebrates smartphone films from around the world.

>> The kickstarter seminar fee will support the MINA screening in Nov 2018
