Smart Justice Symposium - Remaking Justice

Working together for an effective justice system
The Smart Justice Symposium, Remaking Justice, will bring together government, academic, legal and service sector leaders to explore opportunities for working together to ‘remake justice’ and improve the justice system.
The Symposium will examine critical issues, including the recommendations in the Victorian Ombudsman’s landmark report, Investigation into the rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners in Victoria and recent update.
Keynote Address: Victorian Ombudsman Deborah Glass OBE
The Ombudsman will provide an overview of her report findings and an update on the implementation of recommendations.
The Lived Experience
We will hear from those with the lived experience of prison and their reflections on systemic issues across the justice system.
Keynote Address: Deputy Commissioner for Corrections Victoria
On behalf of Commissioner Jan Shuard PSM, Deputy Commissioner Operations Rod Wise, Corrections Victoria will outline progress and priorities for addressing recommendations and the opportunities for improving outcomes.
Expert Panel: Remaking Justice
Expert Panel discussion and Q&A on how we can remake justice with:
