Event Details

Central Asset Management System (CAMS) developed by RMIT Engineering is leading the way in 2020 and beyond, integrating smart cities technologies for intelligent infrastructure asset management. With the support of the smart cities and suburbs program of Australia, three smart precincts have been delivered integrating internet of things (IoT) and sensor technologies in to live monitoring of property assets to establish the level of service and maintenance needs for optimised asset management.

The IoT technologies implemented at Buckingham reserve precinct of the City of Brimbank monitor Bins fill-levels, BBQ faults and usage, toilet usage and odour, occupancy heat maps, air quality and environmental indicators, weather and long grass. The sensors and technologies implemented in the St. Kilda town hall of the City of Port Phillip capture building utilisation metrics, air quality, acoustics and energy data. The Westall community hub precinct of the City of Kingston monitors customer utilisation and movement, energy data and community feedback. Three different IoT solutions were designed, developed, tested and integrated into CAMS.

Integrated applications entitled Any IoT and Team Chain enables capturing input from a multitude of sensor technologies and also stakeholder feedback and display the analytics via a dashboard for asset management decision making. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology enables the asset inspectors to identify accurately the asset components in a functional area of the precinct and sends an alert for missing assets and unexpected additions. Our future current focus includes image recognition, drones for inspections and building information modelling.

You are warmly invited to join us to hear from our partners and researchers on these exciting new initiatives and explore many opportunities to partner up with us in this journey towards intelligent asset management.
