Description

Come along and learn the basics of small electrical repairs from an expert. Residents who are registered to attend the workshop are invited to bring in your own small electrical item that requires repairing. At the Bower Cafe and in this workshop an electrical technician will show you how to fix items by simple re-solder of a join, replace a broken plug, provide advice and assist participants to fix their damaged small electrical item. They will explain the process of fixing damaged items and will demonstrate how easily they can be repaired.

Time: 10am - 12noon (arrive 9.45am).

Who: This workshop is suitable for adults who live in the City of Ryde local government area.

Equipment: Please bring your own note pad and pen to take notes. If you have a broken small electrical appliance (eg. broken lamp, toaster, small kitchen appliance, fan, stereo), please bring it with you for repair activity.

Clothing and footwear: Clothing must be suitable for physical activities and manual handling. Shoes must be sturdy, fully enclosed, have a non-slip sole and be suitable for workshop activities. Thongs, sandals and open toed shoes are not permitted.

Transport:

  • By Bus: Bus route which stop at the Parramatta Transport Interchange are M52, 545. The Bower is located 10 minutes by walking from the Parramatta Transport Interchange.

  • By Train: Parramatta Train Station (Transport Interchange) is the closest station to The Bower. The nearest train stations in Ryde are Eastwood, Meadowbank, North Ryde, Denistone, Macquarie Park and Macquarie University.

  • By Car: You can also drive to the shop. It takes about 20 - 30 minutes. Paid parking available above the shop.

Cost: FREE. This is provided as no cost by the City of Ryde.

Booking: Advanced bookings essential. Book early as places are strictly limited and we anticipate this session will reach full capacity.
