Number of attendees

To ensure tour quality a maximum of 60 participants in one tour session is allowed. Once booked, groups will be divided into a maximum of 20 per tour. Groups greater than 60 attendees total will require multiple time-slots.

Access

Please let us know, via the booking form, if members of your group have mobility challenges and we'll ensure the tour meets their needs. State Library also offers a range of adaptive technology devices to enable people with a disability to use the collections and resources. Find out more.

Borrowing

SLQ members can easily upgrade their membership on site and will receive a membership card that will allow them to borrow resources. The easiest way to upgrade is to first join online. If your group would like upgrade to borrowing members, please book the approximate number of “Membership Cards” tickets. Please allow for additional time at the end of your tour for this assistance.

Membership

Membership is free, and easy to obtain online. It provides benefits including access to State Library databases, digitised collections and the video training platform Lynda.com. Members can also book study rooms, save searches and use tags in the catalogue. To maximise use of State Library services and collections, we strongly encourage both teachers and students to become SLQ members prior to visiting.

School Groups (years 5-12)

One adult supervisor is required for each group of 20 students. It is expected that a supervising adult will accompany students at all times including during independent study. Please note that time is factored into the tour to ensure bags are checked in to the cloakroom before beginning. Note that to borrow resources students will need to join online prior to visiting (see below). Students 15 years and under will also need to bring a signed parental/guardian consent form. Students 16 years and over require both proof of age and current residential address.
