Slow Sewing - Repair, Re-use, Up-cycle
Event Information
About this Event
Join the move to living more sustainably by extending the useful life of your clothing. This course aims to provide you with a wide range of skills, tips and techniques which will enable you to repair, alter, upcycle, and embellish items of clothing without having to use a sewing machine (although we will have them on hand in case you need them!).
Each week you will extend your knowledge and skill set by learning new techniques, and there will also be time to work on the items you bring along to rescue - whether they are from the back of your wardrobe, the mending pile, or your latest op shop find.
You will learn about:
• Basic hand stitches
• Helpful products and how to use them
• Fabric types and how to care for them
• Hems & Seams
• Buttons & Closures
• Holes & stretches
• Simple size adjustments
• Adding embellishments
Bring along your sewing kit if you already have one, as well as any clothing items you have on hand that are needing a bit of love to bring them back to life.
Our sewing studio boasts three spacious individual work stations, a large cutting table, two pressing stations, an overlocking station and time-out space for when you just need that refreshing cuppa.
Lessons will be held every Friday afternoon from January29th through to February 26th 2021, and are subject to our terms and conditions found on our website https://www.kuruicottage.com/terms-conditions
