Sleep Well: A Step Towards Wellness
You are invited to the G-TRAC Healthy Ageing Seminar Series. The Centre continues to run seminars and workshops on key topics relevant to the health and care of older people. Delivered by a range of experts in these fields, consumers as well as health and aged care practitioners are welcome to attend.
The next seminar is focused on Sleep.
Sleep in Ageing
Sleep disorders are common in the older adult population in the community. Differentiating between what is normal with sleep in ageing compared to what is abnormal is important. Common sleep disorders will be discussed as well as simple sleep hygiene advice for patients. There will be a focus on recognising when a patient has sleep apnoea, its health implications and what can be done about it. This talk is aimed at aged care providers, allied health practitioners and nurses, as well as older adults in the community.
Pharmacological Management of Sleep Disorders
The focus of this presentation will be around the drugs that are commonly prescribed to people with sleep disorders, the evidence for drug treatment of sleep disorders and the side effects associated with these drugs.
