Description

Are you a superstar in the kitchen? Do you have cooking skills that you would like to share? Do you have a favourite recipe that you love to cook for your friends?

Alternatively, are you a little nervous in the kitchen? Are you intimidated by the thought of cooking for others? Would you be interested in learning how to prepare new recipes in a casual setting?

Either way, 'Skillet' is just the program for you.

What's it all about?

The 'Skillet' Community Food Skillshare program offers students of all backgrounds the opportunity to learn new skills through cooking together.

Through weekly classes participants collaborate to prepare and share one of the host's favourite recipes. Each session is run by an ongoing co-ordinator with a guest facilitator who, over the course of 2 hours, will teach the group how to prepare a dish they excel at.

Each cook up culminates in a sit down meal and a chance to make new friends with fellow cooks and aspiring foodies.

What's happening at the launch?

  • Fair Food Challenge will be hosting a small cooking demonstration as an introduction to 'Skillet'.
  • Hot drinks and snacks will be provided alongside the opportunity to prepare your own food under the guidance of facilitators for those interested.
  • Information about other events and programs run by Fair Food Challenge will be introduced and discussed.

Come along and try some new food, learn a new skill and make some new friends.

Finally, don't forgot to register your interest in future 'Skillet' classes.

* This event is accessible for those who have mobility issues.
* This event will cater for those with dietary restrictions.
* We acknowledge that this event takes place on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. We pay our respects to their elders both past and present, as well as emerging.
