SIXTY JAZZ CLUB - Scott Tinkler
Season 3, Episode 4 (S03E04) Friday October 21.
As one of Australia's most renowned contemporary jazz trumpeters, Scott Tinkler disregards the boundaries, pushing the limits not only in genre and style but also in the capabilities and possibilities of the instrument itself. Joining him at the helm will be fellow pioneer and local guitarist Julius Schwing, whose sensitive tonality and improvisatory expertise promises the duo will deliver unexpected and (at times) uncomfortable explorations in jazz.
Scott Tinkler's professional career spans a plethora of successes and collaborations, recording and touring with such groups as the Australian Art Orchestra, Mark Simmonds Freeboppers, The Paul Grabowsky Quintet and The Dale Barlow Quintet. He has worked with international artists such as Mark Helias, Joe Lovano, Betty Carter, Branford Marsalis, Han Bennink, Billy Harper, Arthur Blythe, Cindy Blackman and Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani. He has achieved much acclaim with his own projects, including The Scott Tinkler Trio, winning multiple ARIA awards for his compositions and performances.
This Sixty is not for the feint-hearted, but it is for the jazz-heads among us.
