Event description

Description

What would you ask Sir Joseph Banks if you could meet him? Now is your chance, because the famous Botanist is returning down under to Wollongong Botanic Garden in January 2018. His grand tour of the Botanic Garden starts at 10am on Saturday 20th January.

Sir Joseph Banks was born in February 1743 (so that makes him 275 years old in 2018) but don’t worry you will meet him in his prime, as a 60 year old Patron of the Royal Society and authority on anything to do with NSW (particularly the fauna & flora). He does have a touch of gout, but he’s not confined to a wheel chair just yet. Banks made his name on Cook’s voyage of exploration to track the transit of Venus on the Endeavour in August 1768, (250 years ago).

Check the Botanic Garden website for details or contact the Garden to organize a separate tour for your group.

Cancellations: We will cancel the workshop by 1pm the day before if minimum participants (of 10) are not registered. If poor weather occurs, the decision to cancel will be made by 9am on the day of the workshop. In both circumstances, registered participants will be notified by email or phone.
