Description

SILVICULTURE N' SHAKAS

Silviculture (noun) : The growing and cultivation of trees

After our WHAT'S OUT THERE 03 - TIMBERRRR, we've followed up with Sean Ryan from Private Forestry Service Queensland for a more intimate hang. He'll walk us through Bunyaville Conservation park, for a walk and talk about what was, is and could be Forestry.

Broadening the discussion about Forestry in QLD is an important step in ensuring a more sustainable built environment, a more stable ecology and a more circular economy. At WOT 03, one of the topics discussed was how native hardwood forests can supply the required volume of timber production when combined with good silvicultural management strategies, as opposed to relying on plantation production. At our workshop, we will unpack this term 'silviculture' and what 'good silvicultural management strategies' are.

Bring a hat and chair. For your $5 a BBQ lunch will be provided over a group yarn.

Meet at Peter Street North Park
