The training
Feedback from participants in the online training:
This training provided me with a new perspective about the different experiences of people across LGBTI. I feel inspired.
The facilitators were excellent. Their natural use of appropriate language was very informative.
The personal stories and activities related to feelings really helped me connect and understand the information on a deeper level.
Transgender Victoria has Federally funded Silver Rainbow: LGBTI inclusive aged care services training available. The next session of our online series for individual aged care professionals is on the 1 December.
The training is:
- suitable for all staff, from front line to management.
- highly regarded: Participants frequently report this to be the best training they have ever attended!
- available to anyone who works in an organisation that provides aged care services within Victoria: metro, regional, rural and remote. (If you're not based in Victoria, please find your local State or Territory Silver Rainbow partner provider.)
This training aims to support the development of culturally appropriate services for older lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans & gender diverse, and intersex consumers.
Our training is delivered by people who have lived experience, which they share to provide further learning opportunities.
The trainers create a safer learning environment by emphasising that this training is to equip you for your work; it is not seeking to change personal opinions or values.
Learning Outcomes:
- understand LGBTI (and why we don’t use a ‘Q’)
- identify the range of issues facing LGBTI people, and
- understand aspects of good practice for LGBTI inclusive services.
This session runs for 3.5 hours, which includes a total of 30 minutes of breaks throughout the session.
If you have missed out on a place, you can register your interest for future individual sessions by completing the wait list form. Organisations are also welcome to engage us with one of the remaining funded sessions available for organisations that provide aged care service as part of their programs. We also invite you to sign up for our training emails via the form at the bottom of our training page.
