Silent Book Club Melbourne
Welcome to Introvert Happy Hour!
About this event
Silent Book Club started in a local bar in San Francisco in 2012 by a couple of friends—Guinevere de la Mare and Laura Gluhanich. There are now Silent Book Club chapters all over the world.
Silent Book Club is about community. Everyone is welcome, and anyone can join.
Silent Book Club Melbourne meets on the last Sunday of each month. Bring your own book, drink and/or snack of choice, and read in comfortable silence for one hour.
A typical Silent Book Club meeting looks like this:
2:00-2:30pm - People arrive, order drinks/food, share what they're reading
2:30-3:30pm - Quiet reading hour
3:30pm - Optional socializing, or just keep reading
Created for introverts there is no pressure to speak, converse, or cringe through awkward small talk. Engage as much or as little as you like.
After an hour of silent reading you are welcome to stay to chat about what you are reading. Or not.
We meet at the Guild Café, State Library Victoria, Russell Street entrance. Look for a table sign with 'Silent Book Club Melbourne'.

"An introversion party is three people sprawled on couches and pillows, reading and occasionally talking"
