SSAA's Try Shooting program is coming to

Stewartdale Shooting Complex in Ipswich, QLD.


Date: 22nd May 2021

SSAA invites you to attend our FREE Try Shooting day, where highly trained range officers will show you how to handle a firearm and enjoy the sport of shooting safely. You will learn to shoot with a 12ga shotgun at various targets within your chosen two-hour session.

Our Try Shooting sessions are for participants of all skill levels, with the aim to ensure you learn to shoot in a safe, fun, and friendly environment. No previous experience is required.


  • Session 1: 10am-12pm (latest arrival time is 9:30am).
  • Session 2: 1:30pm-3:30pm (latest arrival time is 1pm).

Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your session time to allow for the completion of sign-in.

Each session will have a maximum of 20 participants - so get in quick!

More Details:

  • Spots are LIMITED; online bookings are essential to participate.
  • Drinks (bottled water only) are provided for participants and guests.
  • All shooting equipment is supplied by SSAA: firearms, ammunition, PPE (hearing and eye protection), and range fees. Participants will be covered by SSAA Public Liability Insurance, and Queensland Weapons Legislative Rules will apply.
  • All participants must be aged 11+ and comply with Queensland Weapons Regulations and requirements.
  • Participants must wear appropriate clothing and enclosed shoes (no heels, thongs, singlet tops, or camouflage clothing).
  • Please ensure you bring a photo ID (driver's license, photo ID card, or passport).
  • This event will follow the Queensland Government COVID-19 guidelines and will be COVID safe.
  • If you are feeling unwell prior to, or on the day, we ask that you please do not attend your session to ensure the safety of other attendees and event staff. You do have the right to give your ticket to another attendee. Just make sure the person who is taking your ticket brings photo ID and understands the above information.

All participants MUST follow the SSAA (Qld.) Inc. State Range Standing Orders.


Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Participants need to be 11 years or older. If a participant is older than 11 and younger than 18, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. And the Parent/Guardian Consent Form must be completed upon arrival. All participants must bring photo ID.

What can I bring to the event?

Everything is supplied by SSAA however if you feel more comfortable using your own PPE (ear protection and glasses) you are welcome to bring it with you.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is preferable that you bring your printed ticket. We will, however, accept a mobile version for viewing on the day. You must provide a copy of your ticket either way as it is your confirmation of securing a spot to the session.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

We will allow tickets to be transferred as long as there is one participant per ticket in attendance.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Tickets are transferable. We will need to capture the details of the attendee via photo ID on the day, prior to shooting starts.
