Event description

Description

Over two hours of lectures, this workshop will introduce students to the Python programming language, one of the most popular programming languages worldwide and a recent favorite for statistics, data analysis and scientific programming. Python is used extensively for scientific and business applications in technology firms, the finance sector and consulting, as well as in undergraduate and graduate courses at ANU.

No programming experience is assumed. The workshop will start at an elementary level. Students will learn how to install Python and its scientific and statistical libraries, to generate figures and to write simple programs. All students should bring laptops.

The two sessions are duplicate, so please pick and attend only one session.

This workshop will be delivered by Professor John Stachurski, Research School of Economics.
