Description

Hear nail-biting tales of true grit, courage and heroism about the ships’ cats and dogs who lapped and mapped the world told by Seafurrers’ author Philippa Sandall. See all the colourful characters come to life before your eyes under the pen (well, Texta) of artist Ad Long – and maybe take a drawing home. Don’t wait. Sign on me hearties.

It’s the special opening day event for the Cats and Dogs, All at Sea exhibition, and your ticket includes entry to the exhibition.

Writer Philippa Sandall reckons her forebears go back to the Vikings, since when there have been countless seafarers in her family, numbers of whom have been lost overboard – but unlike the ships’ cats that star in Seafurrers, no one rowed to their rescue.

Seafurrers artist Ad Long is a landlubber whose Australian ancestors took advantage of the First Fleet Special Offer. They settled down and raised a family in New South Wales. And they raised cats. Lots of cats, none of whom ever went to sea.

Philippa Sandall and Ad Long’s book, Seafurrers: the cats that lapped and mapped the world reveals a fascinating maritime history as seen through the eyes of daring cats. Books available for purchase and signing.
