Event description

Description

YWCA Canberra’s She Leads Workshops form part of our women’s leadership pathway, and provide members with the opportunity to hone their leadership skills through a series of targeted professional development workshops.

In this She Leads Workshop you will gain practical skills to successfully negotiate with your employer.

Negotiation skills are critical for women. A recent study shows that while women request raises at the same rate as men, they are 25% less likely to be awarded one. Further, we know that one of the core issues blocking women from returning to work after having children is the lack of flexible working arrangements available.

This workshop, taught by Vanessa Vanderhoek, aims to equip women with the skills they need to negotiate. With strong negotiation skills, women should be more likely to be awarded the raises they deserve, enter into flexible working arrangements, or both.

The She Leads workshop on negotiation will help you to better understand your negotiation strengths and blind spots, with tips on how to get past the fear factor. The workshop not only covers the core skills required to successfully negotiate, but focuses on negotiating for pay rises and for flexible working arrangements - core negotiation areas for women.

If you are ready to increase your confidence and learn the skills required to broach a negotiation conversation and succeed in your request, book your ticket to this workshop today. Tickets are very limited.

Vanessa Vanderhoek is the founder of Flexible Working Day, a Founding Director of Career Inside Track, a Co-Founder of Pallotella, a freelance coach for FlexCareers, and a volunteer Psychological First Aid Officer with the Australian Red Cross. This won her the Ernst & Young “Excellence in Coaching” award in 2008. Vanessa also has extensive exposure to a wide array of industries and business environments, including Commonwealth, State and Territory government departments, government owned corporations, ASX listed companies, and not-for-profit organisations.
