Event description

Description

Broadway Sydney’s partnership with the Sydney Fringe Festival follows its long standing support of the local art scene. Collaborating with wig artist extraordinaire Shaun McGrath, Broadway Sydney have commissioned four custom wigs focusing on the concept of consumerism, that will be exhibited at the centre for the whole of September.

The 2017 answer to the much loved wigs that featured on ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert’, the exhibition will feature four wigs worn by Sydney Fringe Festival ambassadors along with four exclusive creations that are inspired by Broadway Sydney’s food, fashion, beauty and lifestyle retailers such as Nike, Priceline and Kmart. Utilising runners, wooden spoons, lipsticks and popcorn, the wigs take form from elements of consumerism as hairstyles.

Shaun McGrath, the globally recognised creative, is renowned for his work in wiggery, creating unique head-dresses, hair pieces and wigs for catwalk shows, fashion editorials and the arts, in addition to being recently announced Best Avanti-Garde finalist in the 2017 AIPP Awards. A Creative Ambassador for Sustainable Salons Australia, Shaun has worked very hard to achieve the title of Wig Artist Extraordinaire!
