Background

The proposed University of Melbourne Petascale Campus Initiative 2018-2022 recommended the establishment of the On Ramp, a program to develop and support enabling experts across a range of digital methods, technologies and research domains. This series of workshops are designed to engage the academic community in the shaping of the On Ramp program.

Who should attend?

Academics across all career stages who use or develop digital infrastructure and methods for their research, who are interested in exploring and defining what digital skills and expertise will be needed by researchers over the next 5 years.

Some of the questions we’ll explore include:

  • How are digital data and methods changing my field of research?

  • How could a workforce of digital research experts support my research?

  • What challenges are shared across domains in digital research skills and capacity?

  • What skills and expertise will I need access to in my research domain over the next 5 years?

  • Can we identify international models of best practice that might be applicable to our needs and structures at the University of Melbourne?
