Event description
This workshop will be an intro to Solution Focused Therapy, targeted at people who want to start sinking their teeth into the approach.

About this event

This workshop will be an introduction to Solution-Focused Approaches, suitable for people who are ready to start using it. You may have little or no prior knowledge of the approach, or you may know about it but not really using it, or someone who just wants a good refresher. During this workshop I will introduce some of the theory and techniques of the approach which will actually be enough for you to go and try it for yourself.

Solution-Focused Approaches has its roots in Solution Focused Brief Therapy, however it is more than just a therapy. This approach can be use in just about any area from general health care, mental health, business/corporate areas, team building, school/university/education, sporting teams ... virtually anywhere that people are involved. It is a really positive approach to just about any situation, not only for our clients, but also for the clinician, carer, manager or team member. The basic concepts and techniques of this approach can be used in all of our interactions with our clients, customers and colleagues, basically with anyone who wants to improve an aspect of their lives. So, this should not be seen simply as a ‘therapy’ but also as a way of communicating in a positive and future-focused way.

The purpose of this workshop is not to turn you into an expert in the approach, but it will be a great starting point. You do not have to do any preparation, however if you would like to read a little more about SFBT before the workshop then please contact David and he will forward you some reading material. After the workshop David will also provide a variety of other readings and material to assist you on your solution-focused journey.

This workshop include morning and afternoon tea, but due to government restrictions attendees are not able to share food. I will still provide something to snack on, but with individual packaging.

COVID-19 Update:

Due to public health recommendations relating to the Corona Virus, Left Turn has decided to continue with these workshops but to limit the number of attendees to 20. The room we will be in is usually able to hold 150 people. This means that there is plenty of room available to spread out and maintain a degree of personal space. However due to the nature of the workshop the day will still involve interviewing each other (in pairs) and talking to others in small groups (2-4 people).  As with current recommendations, please do not attend if you are unwell. For late cancellations due to illness we will allow you to re-book into another session in the future.

Venue:

The workshop will be held in the In Vogue Op Shop, Vogue Theatre, Kingswood. Please enter via the door on the northern wall.
