Sewing Session
Do you have a sewing project gathering dust because you got stuck, lost motivation or just didn't know where to start? Come along to one of our sewing sessions and we'll get you heading in the right direction.
Following on from our workshop Sewing Machine 101 or for the individual that has some basic sewing skills down pat, this workshop will take you through the steps of...
- how to select the right fabric
- how to cut a pattern
- how to follow pattern instructions
- how to start sewing
- we can also demonstrate a particular technique you require help with
- discuss your sewing machine needs (I know you've probably inherited one from your Aunty or Gran, find out if it's worth holding onto!)
We will have sewing machines and overlockers onsite but we do recommend you bring your own so that you can practise with your own machine. In this workshop we will be guided by your needs - bring along items you'd like to alter, projects you'd like advice on or a project you'd like to start on.
It will be a 2 hour workshop with afternoon tea and coffee provided. It will be a small group of 3 - 4 participants.
The workshop will be hosted by Sandra Searle, the designer behind Elvi Design, an expert in designing and creating couture wedding gowns. Sandra has completed formal training at the WA Institute of Fashion and Textiles and spent the last 10 years working in the fashion industry.
