Event Information
About this Event
We welcome Madeline a Home School parent who is donating her time, skills and knowledge for these hand sewing sessions with the support of Bec from Greater Springfield Home Schoolers. Children will learn the basic hand sewing stiches and making fun toys, homewares and other exciting items. It is up to the parents judgement as to what age this is suitable for but please keep in mind they will be using sharp sewing needles & scissors so it is recommend for children 5 years and older. There will be a 15min snack break in this session so please bring lunch/snacks for your child/ren.
This is a class of 25 children.
Sew Crafty sessions are held at Ipswich Library Main Street Springfield Central Level 2 event space 2.
Due to covid 19 restrictions with social distancing & library event capacity we are only able to offer a limited number of tickets. You only need to purchase tickets for the child/ren attending the sessions.
It is highly recommended that your child attend all 5 sessions as they learn each fortnight their skills will roll over into the next activity as they practice more and build skills and confidence. The plan is for term 2 the children can attend additional sessions to further their skills and knowledge using what they learned in term 1.
Please refer to the facebook event for all updates and what is required to bring for the sessions https://fb.me/e/3laDXwQUy . This is a free event however we are asking for a gold coin donation for each child to cover the cost of some of the materials we are providing. Sessions are taking place on level 2 Event space 2 at Springfield Library Main St Orion Shopping Centre , however, you are required to sign-in on level 1 via QR code on your phone as part of their covid safe plan. Please allow extra time for this especially if you need to use the lift.
** SAFETY** Because of the nature of this activity the children will need to have concentration around using needles and scissors and it is also not safe for small children. If you have other younger children use the children's area on level 1 of the library as Level 2 has been designated a quite study area now (with the exception of inside the event spaces)
* COVID SAFE *
If you or your child is unwell please stay home and do not attend the event, if covid like symptoms please get tested.
Children will be socially distanced at the tables however they are free to wear a facemask if you like (or if they are required to via state policy at that time).
The library provides many hand sanitizing stations so please sanitise hands before attending. We will also have hand sanitiser available when signing your child into attendance.
