Event description

Description

Serverless paradigm is re-shaping how companies think and approach web development, with the potential to reduce costs for running applications by a up to 90%. It takes away the heavy lifting of building highly available, scalable, end to end applications. Completely offloading the management and administration of tricky business of scale, so that you can focus on your core business, without having to worry about downtimes, full disks, traffic spikes, cluster provisioning, or operating system maintenance.

Serverless code can be used in conjunction with code deployed in traditional styles, such as microservices and containers. Alternatively, applications can be written to be purely serverless and use no provisioned servers at all. The best suited configuration for your project will depend on multiple factors, and picking the best approach requries knowledge about all of them, and where what fits best. This is exactly what we will be talking about at this event. We will be going over the concepts by examples, and comparing each approach to it's next best neighbors. We will also cover the drawbacks and cases where serverless isn't the best fit and we are better off using traditional approaches.

We will wrap up the event with a workshop, building a small (but usefull) application just by writing pure functions and without spinning any server.
