Event description
Learn tips and tricks to help get found online and rank well on Google through optimising your website for search engines.

About this Event

Please note: this event is run by the Small Business Development Corporation for small business owners in Western Australia only.

Is your website generating enough leads? This session will teach you tips and tricks to help you get found online and rank well on Google.

More than 90 per cent of consumers go online to find products or services in their local area. So if you want your website to generate leads (and income) it’s essential that search engines know and trust your site. SEO Essentials is perfect for any business owner who wants to optimise their website and learn how to improve its Google ranking to generate more business. You will also receive a framework and the tools you need to optimise your own website.

This topic covers

  • How Google works;
  • Understanding the basics of SEO and how to make sure your website is found online;
  • Keyword research to find the right keywords;
  • How to measure SEO results;
  • How to write metadata;
  • Optimising your website content;
  • Link building.

This session is for business owners who:

  • Have a website but little experience or knowledge of SEO;
  • Want to rank their local business on Google.

The facilitator for this topic, Stirling Business Association, provides support, learning and networking for business owners in and around the Stirling community. Their presenter of this topic has been a digital marketing consultant for the last 15 years. She specialises in helping businesses generate leads online primarily through Google using search engine optimisation (SEO), Google AdWords and Facebook Advertising.

This session is presented by the SBDC, the only agency in the Western Australian Government dedicated to helping small business. In fact, we've been providing practical support to small business owners for more than 30 years.

Important booking information

You are limited to two tickets per booking (you can of course make more than one booking).

We will be emailing you with important information on how to find workshop locations and what you need to bring, if it is a face-to-face event. If you are attending an online workshop you will receive instructions and a link on how to join and important information to ensure your device is suitable. Therefore, if you are booking for more than one person, please ensure you provide each person's email address.

To book for larger groups, please contact us on 133 140.

You can cancel your booking up to 24 hours before the workshop starts. Even for free sessions we would appreciate you cancelling if you cannot attend so another small business owner can take your place. For paid sessions, no refunds will be issued within 24 hours of the scheduled start time.

Additional information for online workshop sessions

Please check your computer's suitability for online workshops, including its sound quality, browser, internet bandwidth and speed and video plugins (if required) before the start of the online workshop session. Camera and microphone capabilities are recommended to interact with online workshops.

Our online workshops are run as live, interactive sessions, similar to the format of our face-to-face sessions. For this reason, there is a limited number of tickets per session so our presenters can adequately interact with, and respond to, attendees. Recordings of these live sessions are not available if you do not attend the live event time.

Additional information for face-to-face workshop sessions

No, you don't need to bring your printed ticket.

We value inclusion for clients requiring disability access and our workshops are delivered in a variety of buildings and locations. If you would like further information about accessing a particular workshop please use the contact button at the end of this page to send us your query.
