Event description

Description

A two part series hosted by Felixstow 1 Early Childhood Leader, Jen Bais.

Presented by Occupational Therapist & Director of Kid Sense, Joanna Buttfield who is highly experienced in Educational Environments to suit all kids.

Who for?

Teachers, ECW, SSOs and site leaders in early childhood and the early years of schooling.

Part 1 – Thursday Aug 10th: Identifying students with sensory challenges.

Part 2 – Thursday Aug 31st: Implementing classroom strategies for ‘sensory’ students.

Teaching staff, do you have daily frustrations with students:

•who just cant settle to task or are constantly on-the move?

•who are lethargic, sleepy or ‘lazy’ and seem unmotivated to do anything much’?

•whose behaviour is not ‘classroom friendly’?

•who benefit from a movement break but the benefits don’t last long?

•who are in differing states of ‘readiness to learn’?

Then come along to this two part series to learn:

•How to identify children with sensory needs that impact attention, behaviour and learning

•How to use classroom/kindy based strategies to obtain and sustain attention

•How to address sensory challenges to get a more accurate read on ‘behaviour’ challenges

NOTE: Recommended observations will be provided in session 1 so we can work on what to implement in the classroom in session 2.

Cost is $50.00 for BOTH sessions, plus GST/ticket fee
