A practical webinar for OTs to build their knowledge in sensory processing, and apply evidence-based strategies in therapy, home and school.

This webinar has been developed by Caitlyn Cowie (Clinical Lead) and Caitlin Smith (Senior Occupational Therapist), occupational therapists at Kid Link OT. Both are endorsed mental health practitioners with extensive experience supporting children, young people, and families.

Who this webinar is for:

  • Occupational Therapists working in paediatrics who want to build their knowledge, skills, and confidence when providing evaluation and intervention for sensory based goals (most relevant for clients aged 2-18 years). 
  • Occupational Therapy University students with an interest in paediatrics are also welcome to attend. 
  • Allied Health professionals who provide evaluation and intervention to paediatric clients with sensory based goals (most relevant for clients aged 2-18 years). 

What you will learn: 

This webinar will support you to deepen your understanding of best practice when supporting children and young people with sensory processing preferences which impact their daily participation. This will be met through the following objectives: 

  • To understand what sensory processing is and its role within children's everyday occupations. 
  • To develop your skills within evaluation of a client's sensory processing preferences. 
  • To be aware of the current sensory based interventions to support participation in daily activities, including the use of these within your client’s natural environments. 
  • To develop your ability to set functional goals with children and their families to facilitate participation in their everyday occupations. 
  • To feel more confident in making treatment choices and delivering support in line with best practice.
  • To build your toolbox of session ideas, strategies, resources, and handouts you can use immediately in day-to-day practice.

Caitlyn Cowie

Caitlyn Cowie is the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist at Kid Link OT, where she has worked since 2017 after graduating from Monash University with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours). Caitlyn is an endorsed mental health practitioner (BAMH) and balances leadership responsibilities with a diverse clinical caseload supporting children and teens aged 4–18.

Caitlyn’s clinical interests include working with teens, mental health, and navigating complex presentations. Caitlyn plays a key role in overseeing service delivery improvements, supervision, and professional development across the team. An experienced presenter, Caitlyn has delivered education to allied health clinicians, families, and schools on a range of practice areas.


Caitlin Smith 

Caitlin Smith is one of Kid Link OT’s Senior Occupational Therapists, where she has worked since 2017. Caitlin graduated in 2015 and has a Bachelor of Health Science and a Master of Occupational Therapy Practice (La Trobe University). Caitlin is endorsed by OT Australia to practice within the Medicare Better Access to Mental Health program. 

Caitlin currently holds a caseload of children and teenagers aged between 7-16. Caitlin’s clinical interests include supporting regulation based goals, mental health goals and building caregiver capacity through education and coaching. Caitlin provides supervision to occupational therapists both internally, and externally to Kid Link. She has experience in developing and presenting on a range of topics for parents, carers, and school support staff. Additionally, Caitlin oversee’s Kid Link’s podcast for clinicians, Perspectives in Paediatrics.
