Event description

Description

Sensory attachment approaches to managing meltdowns, anxiety and challenging behaviour and developing a more connected meaningful relationship with your child.

Participants will leave with research based, practical strategies to support their child's social and emotional needs. A workbook will be provided for further review following the session to support participants to implement the strategies with their children.

Parents will have the opportunity to:

  • Establish a contemporary and accurate clinical understanding of what sensory approaches are and what they are not with reference to how many parents are informed about these frameworks. Develop awareness how to holistically parent in a manner that includes attending to both the body and the mind.
  • Learn about their child’s sensory preferences and needs
  • Learn about their own sensory preferences and needs
  • Design a home program including sensory attachment approaches for regulating their child and themselves using facilitator support

This event is for parents and educators who are needing additional strategies to address their child's anxiety and/or behaviour. This can be a stand alone support mechanism or used as an adjunct to current therapy programs such as a psychologist. Teachers also gain valuable insights and strategies for supporting student's social and emotional needs.
