Description

This Seniors Festival, Waverley Library is hosting a special talk by local author Shira Sebban with her book Unlocking the past: stories from my Mother’s diary.
Having abandoned hope of uncovering more details of their mother Naomi’s past after her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Sebban and her sister discovered a diary Naomi had kept during a study trip to Israel in the mid-1950s.
Unlocking the Past brings Naomi’s vibrant diary entries back to life as a series of creative short stories. In so doing,
Sebban embarked on a fascinating journey, exploring a place and space so different to her own but reconnecting
with her mother and celebrating her life.

Guest speaker UNSW Associate Professor Leanne Piggott will discuss Israel’s early period including the 1950s, helping to set the scene for the story.

Morning tea provided.

Books available for sales and signing at the event.
