Event description
Join policymakers, experts from affected industries, scientists and legal academics to discuss the potential of carbon farming in WA

About this Event

Carbon Farming is being discussed around the globe as one instrument to combat the rise of greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere and help Australia meet its “Nationally Determined Contributions” under the 2015 Paris Agreement.

The seminar will consider carbon farming in the context of a number of questions. For example, what potential does carbon farming have, particularly in Western Australia? Is it conceivable that competing interests can be reconciled? What is the international and domestic legal framework around carbon farming?

To answer these questions the seminar will bring together scientists, legal academics, policymakers and experts from affected industries to learn and discuss.

The objective of the seminar will be to present a picture of the opportunities and challenges carbon farming presents in Western Australia.

Speakers and panellists include:

  • Michelle Rhodes (360 Environmental)
  • Professor Richard Harper (Murdoch University)
  • Gaye Mackenzie (former CEO of Rangelands NRM and member of the Pastoral Lands Board)
  • Dr Dean Revell (CEO of Select Carbon Pty Ltd)

  • Glen McLeod (Glen McLeod Legal)
