With tech and high growth startup opportunities in the Hunter on the rise, the opportunities for early stage Angel Investment is ready to ramp up too. Are you interested in being involved? Then this is an opportunity to get some key questions answered by the best in the business of early stage investment.

Come and learn from two experienced investors about how they approach investment deals – from both the perspective of the investor and investee. This interactive and informative workshop is targeted at high net worth individuals considering adding Angel investments to their portfolio or startups seeking early stage investment.

Angel investment is more than pure investment in an idea or a start-up; it is about investing your time, resources, finance, experience and belief and being prepared to support the journey of the founders through the thick and thin.

The discussion will be facilitated by Allan Aaron and Nigel Hennessy, two experienced Sydney investors who will share their approach to Angel investment and include the perspective of the company looking for investment. The session will include the opportunity for Q&A.

This is an extremely limited capacity event and tickets will be strictly limited to 20 attendees.

About the facilitators:

Allan is an Advisor with Accelerating Commercialisation - a $460m Federal Government program designed to assist Australian technology companies (with revenues of less than $20m per annum) grow by providing access to grant funding, expert business advice and relevant networks - Angel Investors, strategic partners and channels, and service providers. Allan focusses on assisting companies based in NSW and WA and is particularly interested in emerging companies in the Internet, IT & Communications sector as well as companies commercialising energy (traditional and clean energy), materials, manufactured products and sustainable technologies. Allan is also the Director of Corporate Development at Simons Green Energy, a leading provider of sustainable energy, heating and cooling solutions through Cogeneration and Trigeneration technologies where he is responsible for a range of marketing, sales and corporate activities. He is also a founder and partner at Technology Venture Partners, a technology-focussed venture capital investment company which has committed over $200 million in investors funds to a range of technology companies.
Allan has been involved in high-growth businesses for the past 20 years, three of which were spent in Silicon Valley in the USA. Previously, he spent 8 years in Management Consulting with McKinsey & Company and as a Director of Ernst & Young’s Management and Technology Consulting practice after an early career in professional and systems engineering roles.

Nigel is a professional public company director, specialising in the impact of business and market disruption on governance, risk, opportunities and growth. Nigel's has held executive leadership roles for CCN/Cabcharge, Simoco Pacific Pty Ltd, AquaSpy Inc, EASAMS Australia Ltd and CtechBA. He was also deputy MD of BAE Systems Australia and General Manager Adacel Technologies Ltd.
Nigel's current roles include Executive Committee of the RDA - Sydney; a non-executive director at Syntonic Limited; independent director at Australian Institute of Project Management and a Commercialisation Adviser to the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science.
Nigel offers skill sets in leadership, governance, change management, business strategy, commercialisation and data science. For nearly 20 years he has worked in specialist advisory roles in business growth for startups and SME’s.
Nigel is an Approved Adviser with the Advisory Board Centre and a published author and presenter.
