Description

Secondary Impact Assessment (SIA) is a process for determining the impact on the community after an emergency event. This data is collected straight after the emergency, when it has been declared safe by the Incident Controller. SIA is important as it:

  • Identifies the scale of the impact on the community.
  • Allows the information collected to be used by agencies and government to prioritise and target services and resources to those who need them.
  • Connecting with the community to rebuild and recovery.

Training Objectives:

  • To develop a clear understanding of the SIA process and who is responsible for what.
  • Outline SIA data collection and management requirements.
  • To understand what needs to be done at your municipality to be prepared to conduct SIA after an emergency.
  • Develop an awareness of Psychological First Aid (PFA) and its role in SIA.

This training was developed for the North Western Metropolitan Region Emergency Management Collaboration for local government staff from the region.

If you are not a member of an organisation within the Collaboration please check with the Event Manager before registering.
