Event description

Description

Never been to Morialta Conservation Park before? Or if you have, perhaps you only ventured as far as the base of the first waterfall along the main path on the valley bottom? Or are you a tourist, keen to see what South Australia's bushland is like?

Whether you are a tourist or a local, a beginner bushwalker, someone wanting to get some miles under their belt in preparation for an upcoming hiking holiday, or even a regular hiker who would just like some social company on a leisurely-paced nature walk, this small group activity would be a perfect way to spend a few hours in the outdoors on a Saturday afternoon! Both women and men are welcome on this hike.

We will be walking the Second Falls Gorge Hike at Morialta Conservation Park, starting from the Morialta Recreation Area (picnic area) on Stradbroke Road. This walk is approx. 7km, and although it does include some steep sections and some stairs we will be going at a slow/leisurely pace, with plenty of time for stopping to catch your breath or taking photos and admiring the views. We will be allowing approx. 3 hours for this hike, including time for a little break along the way to eat whatever you have packed for your snack. While a reasonable/beginner level of fitness is assumed, I have done this walk with fit/active seniors (60-70 year olds) as well as with younger people who have fairly sedentary desk jobs (20 - 50 year olds). If you have particular problems or recent joint replacements in your knees/hips/ankles this would not be suitable, but don't feel you have to be super-fit to join this event as it is a social leisurely paced hike. If you are interested in joining us, but are concerned you may not have the fitness level to take part - please contact Sarah before registering - she will be happy to chat over the phone and help you decide if it would be suitable or not.

What you might see on the hike: beautiful nature views, glimpses of the city (sometimes even the ocean on clear days), waterfalls, wildlife - including koalas, dragon lizards, skinks, lots of different birds and native plants/flowers.

Who is your host? Sarah, personal trainer and owner of JetSetGo Fitness. Sarah is passionate about travelling and enjoying the outdoors, and loves sharing her favourite nature walks with others. Sarah has a current First Aid Certificate and will be carrying a first aid kit on the walk.
