Sea Gypsies - The Far Side of the World
Fri. 31 March 2017, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm AEDT
Join us for a special feature screening direct from Mountainfilm. Sea Gypsies is a wild, swashbuckling ride that is as beautifully shot as it is outrageously dangerous!
From New Zealand to Patagonia via Antarctica’s Ross Sea, the documentary follows the international nomadic crew as they dodge icebergs, battle hurricane force winds, tear every sail on the yacht, engage in a mission against illegal Japanese whalers with the radical environmental group the Sea Shepherd, suffer near catastrophic mechanical problems and unwittingly become the furthest south sailing yacht in the World for 2014!
Also screening with The Adventure Dispatch, a short film that follows two friends on an adventure that combines tower climbing, narrows biking, canyon camping and rafting with the emptiness of landscapes that are too far off the beaten path for most people.
The Tasmanian Sea Shepherds will be here with merch for sale and answers to your questions.
