Paediatrics Masterclass for General Practitioners

Aim

This seminar will outline the Paediatrics process on the Sunshine Coast and highlight best practice clinical guidelines.

Shared Paediatrics care represents an opportunity to practice collaborative paediatrics care by combining the varied skills of Allied Health professionals, Mental Health professionals, Specialists and General Practitioners to the benefit of the community, and mutual understanding between colleagues.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe occasions when emergency paediatric presentations can be effectively managed in the primary care setting. Review referral process to locally available models of care for children with developmental and/or behaviours conditions.
  2. Identify paediatric ENT and orthopaedic conditions that can be routinely treated in GP setting, including a description of the management procedure
  3. Recognise the characteristic features of common infectious conditions in children.
  4. Interpret complex presentations of feeding and gastrointestinal issues in children and determine appropriate management.
  5. Apply best practice evaluation and management procedures for children presenting with developmental and behavioural issues
