Event description
'Perform Well' explores the wellbeing impact pursuing acting in the screen industry can have on performers, and those working close to them

About this Event

This session has been customised to help support the wellbeing issues facing performers and those working close to them in the screen sector. The creative process of performing and running a creative business presents actors, agents/mangers, and casting directors with many unique challenges such as; identity issues, imposter syndrome, rejection, self worth/self critic, trolling, de-rolling, post dramatic stress, and post show blues.

These challenges are rarely spoken about and are difficult for all involved to navigate. This session aims to provide information, support and skills to strengthen the personal wellbeing of actors, their agents/managers, and casting directors, as well as how to look out for their peers who might be struggling.

Partners: Equity Foundation, Casting Guild of Australia, Australian Drama Agents Association, Association of Drama Agents

Panellists: Dr Julie Crabtree - psychologist and author, Dr Mark Seton - resilience coach and researcher, Monica Davidson - creative business advisor. Moderated by filmmaker Ben Steel.

Attendees are not required to publicly share their personal experiences during the session.

Event financed with the assistance of Screen Australia

The Screen Well wellbeing webinar sessions were created by filmmaker and mental health advocate Ben Steel, in association with Film Art Media, and in collaboration with mental health professionals, the screen guilds, unions, and interests groups. The event builds on the highly successful Wellness Roadshow designed in collaboration with Film Art Media and Impact Producer, Diana Fisk which has rolled out nationally since the release of The Show Must Go On documentary in October 2019.
