Description

Spend a day with other teachers interesting in learning to use Scratch better in the classroom.

Our day will include:

  • Lots of hands on Scratch programming
  • Planning a project that includes Scratch for your classroom
  • Tinkering with Makey Makey and Scratch
  • Checking out the Code Club resources

Our day

  • 10:00 Arrivals and introductions
  • 10:30 What have you done in your classroom already? What are your needs?
  • 11:00 Activity: Debugging... how to answer questions you don't know
  • 11:20 Activity: Scratch Unit 3.. Code Club updates
  • 12:00-1:00 Break for lunch (BYO Lunch)
  • 1:00 Activity: Makey Makey and other hardware: Bringing scratch into the real world
  • 2:00 Activity: Other Code Club resource.. Sonic Pi, Python, Raspberry Pi
  • 2:45 Register for materials and final questions.

What we need you to do before training:

  1. Register via this page
  2. Email, or print and bring with you, a letter of nomination from your principal. This should include:
    • Your name as nominated teacher attending
    • Name of elected alternate should you become unavailable.
    • A pledge to register for materials
    • Write on your school letterhead complete with postal address.
  3. Nominate an alternative attendee should your circumstances change (please name them in your principal's letter)
  4. Bring your own laptop (Chromebooks, PCs and Macs are all fine!). No tablets please
  5. Optional: please bring any hardware you might have (Makey Makey, Robots, Etc)
