Event description

Description

This is a fun, energetic style of dance that is like teamwork: you can come on your own (or with a friend), and we use particular skipping steps to dance patterns that in turn make up dances.

Challenge your right from your left hand, dance to lively music, and improve your memory and fitness. This dance form appeals to people who have a sense of rhythm, and often are good at maths and shapes. We have about 30 dancers in our full group; many are not Scottish.

Our 2020 Scottish Country Dancers beginners course starts on Thursday 2 April. Teacher: Mel Roome, 0439918994

Participants will learn the basic steps and formations of this energetic dance style, and use these to dance some fun and friendly Scottish reels and jigs (quick dances). As you get the hang of it, join us at our annual events such as our Winter Ball (Saturday 16 May, Hobart Town Hall).
