Scooter Safety Workshop
Thu. 27 April 2017, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm AWST
Have you recently started using a scooter (gopher)? How much training and education did you receive? Chances are you had zero to very little training before you hopped on it. A recent survey indicates that one in four scooter users have had an accident at some time, so it seems logical that undertaking training and education on scooter safety is a good idea!
Whether you have been getting around on your scooter for years, or are a complete novice, this workshop is sure to increase your knowledge on safe scooter use and set up, road rules, service and maintenance, and insurance. We will also cement this knowledge with a practical component where we will take the scooters out in different indoor and outdoor situations to increase driving skills.
You will learn about;
- Safe scooter use
- The importance of maintenance and insurance for your scooter
Target audience: This workshop is aimed at existing scooter users – novice and experienced. It will not only boost your confidence in using your scooter to access your community surrounds, but also increase safe driving skills to reduce the risk of being involved in an accident.
What to bring? Your scooter – if you are unable to bring your scooter to the workshop, we will have some available for you on the day.
Presenter: Jenny is an experienced Occupational Therapist who has been working with assistive technology for over ten years. She is passionate about equipment that can increase a person’s independence, in particular enabling people to access the community through the use of powered mobility devices such as scooters.
