Event description

Description

The University is participating in the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) pilot program, which promotes gender equity and diversity in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM).

A pilot of the successful UK-based Athena SWAN program, the Australian program is a partnership between the Australian Academy of Science and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.

It assesses gender equality policies and practices and helps organisations establish ways to promote and retain women and gender minorities in their ranks.

The program achieves its goals through an evaluation and accreditation framework carried out by the Self-Assessment Team and the SAGE Program Office who are responsible for preparation of the Application for the SAGE/Athena SWAN Institutional Bronze Award, collecting and interrogating gender data across the University with a focus on STEMM faculties, and developing action plans to address issues.

Join us for this important All Staff Forum.

Topics include:

  • SAGE Program work since launch in 2016 including the sharing of gender equity and diversity data from across the University with a STEMM focus

  • Athena SWAN Bronze Award Application process including the key issues identified

  • Details of the proposed 4 year Action Plan

  • Further opportunities to contribute to the SAGE Program in the future

Staff will have the opportunity to provide feedback and comments on the Application and Action Plan during and following the Forum.
