We invite you to visit Torquay College and Surf Coast Secondary College, two Victorian schools that are part of the New Pedagogies for Deep Learning Global project.

  • Torquay College from 9am to 11.45am with morning tea supplied by Torquay College.
  • Surf Coast Secondary College from 12pm to 3pm with a light lunch will be supplied by Surf Coast College.

Torquay College offers its 1000+ students a rich curriculum in a stimulating, safe and supportive environment. Torquay College uses a contemporary inquiry-based learning approach to engage students in their own educational and emotional learning journey. Students develop foundational numeracy and literacy skills, as well as critical thinking, technological and communication skills that help to equip them as 21st Century citizens. You will see Torquay College’s rich learning environments that include a purpose built Environment Centre with aviary and wetlands, a student-managed cafe, an edible garden and chicken house, art studios, rehearsal/recording/film editing rooms and a number of outdoor sports facilities.

Surf Coast Secondary College is in its sixth year of operation, and since its beginnings has focused on leveraging technology to empower students as learners, in particular to address individual needs. You will learn about how the College uses technology to create a high level of differentiation for their students. You will also see the flexible learning spaces that the staff and students utilise to enable targeted teaching and flexible groupings to occur in their Middle Years FUSE program.
