School Visit to Canterbury Primary School
Wed. 29 March 2017, 10:00 am – 11:00 am AEDT
We invite you to visit Canterbury Primary School, a Victorian school that is part of the New Pedagogies for Deep Learning Global project.
Canterbury PS aim to create a passionate learning community that inspires, challenges and supports all students to achieve their personal best and make a positive contribution to the world in which they live.
The school has developed a strong team culture and has highly collaborative teaching teams. Students have
agency over their learning. Inquiry learning provides the framework for exploring integrated topics.
On Wednesday 29th March, students will come together for a celebration of the 'Canterbury Comic Con'. Throughout the term, students and teachers across the school have been collaborating on a joint project called Canterbury Comic Con. The purpose of this project is to engage students in a rich learning opportunity, embed the school values and develop each student’s sense of identity. The CPS Comic Con (Convention) will be a chance for students to display their work in classrooms, to run activities and to of course explore the idea of being a superhero.
Much of the work in classrooms has been inspired and shaped by this theme of comics and superheroes and what we can learn from them. As a result, many reading, writing, maths, science and ‘making’ activities have been based on aspects of comic characters and their portrayal. In specialist subjects, students have also explored this theme.
