Description

School Leaders Forum on the Right to Education

You are invited to a panel discussion for principals and school leaders about the Implications of the Right to Education in the Human Rights Act 2019.

In February 2019, the Queensland Legislative Assembly passed the Human Rights Act. Uniquely for Australia, this Act provides for both a Right to Education focused on inclusion and equality, and a mechanism to bring complaints to the Human Rights Commission.

This new right, and the new option for complaining, have the potential to bring life-changing reforms to the way education is received by individual children with disabilities and other complex needs – but also challenges for school leaders in understanding the implications of the new Act in their work.

Hosted by the UQ School of Education in conjunction with the TC Beirne School of Law.

Speakers include:

Date: Wednesday 24 April 2019

Time: 7:30am for 8:00am-10:00am
(coffee and light refreshments served from 7.30am)

Venue: Terrace Room, Level 6, Sir Llew Edwards Bldg #14, Campbell Rd, UQ, St Lucia

Registration: Wednesday 17 April 2019

Cost: $30
