School is not the Only Way: The Science of Learning Outside School

Most of us go to school, and there we learn many things. One of those things is that attending school is the best way to get an education. We learn that classrooms and lessons, desks and textbooks are an essential part of learning. This is so much the case that when children are educated outside school, we often assume that recreating school is the way to go.

Research shows us otherwise. Young people learn in many ways, and outside school there is no reason for education to be limited to what can be taught by a teacher. James, Ian and Naomi will talk about how young people learn outside school, how different education can be and why it’s imperative for the future of our young people that we start to value all sorts of learning.
