Matriark Theatre are turning silly into an artform with a workshop in slapstick comedy for 10-13 year-olds.

As part of the City of Sydney Library school holiday program, learn the skills of slapstick and physical comedy from practicing actors. 2 facilitators from Matriark Theatre, lead this hands-on drama skills workshop.

Over the 2 hours, learn presentation and storytelling skills so you can perfect your ‘funny.’ Matriark's hilarious teaching artists will tickle your funny bone with this energetic, confidence-building workshop. Inclusive of both the boisterous and the shy, the artists will work with each child’s sensibilities.

This unforgettable theatre experience will end with our student slapstickers putting on a showcase for parents and carers in the last 10 minutes of the workshop.

After signing their child into this event children will be supervised by City of Sydney Staff.

To complete your booking a permission note will be emailed to you for you to fill in and return.

Children should all bring a drinkbottle with them.

Suitable for kids aged 10-13, this free event caters for a maximum of 20, so bookings are essential.

Matriark Theatre

Sydney-based theatre-makers, Matriark, create new work for young people and families. Residing above Waterloo Library in one of City of Sydney’s new Creative Live/Work spaces, they hail from a variety of creative backgrounds. Matriark use puppetry and physical comedy to build worlds and imagine surreal characters and stories for the stage. Their work has graced numerous Sydney stages, including the Monkey Baa Theatre, City of Sydney, Casula Powerhouse and Riverside Theatres.
